FcMig (UK) Limited is pleased to announce the successful completion and handover of a 200,000 square foot e-commerce fulfilment centre in the West Midlands — one of the largest and most technically complex facilities we have delivered to date.
Project Overview
The facility, located in a strategic position within the West Midlands logistics corridor, was designed to support a major e-commerce operator’s growing distribution requirements. The brief called for a high-throughput fulfilment centre capable of processing thousands of orders per hour, with the flexibility to scale operations as demand grows.
FcMig delivered the project on a turnkey basis, managing every aspect of the build from initial site preparation through to final commissioning and operational handover.
Key Features
The completed facility includes a three-level mezzanine structure providing over 500,000 square feet of operational floor space across the three levels, goods-to-person picking zones with integrated conveyor systems, automated packing stations with in-line weighing and labelling, a high-speed automated despatch system connecting to a 40-bay loading dock, comprehensive fire suppression throughout including ESFR sprinklers, a fully integrated building management system with IoT sensor monitoring, rooftop solar PV generating approximately 400 MWh annually, and EV charging infrastructure for both fleet vehicles and staff parking.
Delivery Performance
The project was delivered on programme and within the agreed budget, with zero lost-time incidents recorded across the entire construction period. At peak, the site employed over 150 operatives from FcMig and our specialist subcontractor partners, coordinated through our five-stage delivery process and managed to ISO 9001 quality and ISO 45001 safety standards throughout.
Sustainability Credentials
The facility was designed and constructed to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent, incorporating low-carbon materials, enhanced insulation, LED lighting with daylight harvesting, and rainwater harvesting systems. Construction waste was managed to achieve a diversion rate of 96.8% from landfill — exceeding our standard 95% target.
