Health & Safety
Protecting our people, our partners, and the public on every project
Our HSE Commitment
At FcMig (UK) Limited, health, safety, and environmental management are not merely regulatory obligations – they are fundamental to who we are. We are committed to achieving the highest standards of HSE performance across every project, every site, and every task. Our goal is simple: everyone goes home safe, every day.
Safety Policy Overview
Our comprehensive health and safety policy sets out the framework through which we manage risk, protect people, and ensure legal compliance on every project we undertake. The policy is endorsed by the Managing Director and applies to all employees, subcontractors, visitors, and anyone affected by our operations. It is reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practice, and lessons learnt from our own activities. We operate in full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, and all other relevant statutory requirements. Our safety management system is designed to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls before work begins – and to monitor and review those controls throughout the life of every project.
Training & Competence
We believe that competence is the foundation of safe working. Every member of the FcMig team receives comprehensive induction training before commencing work, followed by role-specific training tailored to the tasks they will perform. Our training programmes cover areas including manual handling, working at height, confined space entry, fire safety, first aid, and the use of plant and equipment. We hold regular toolbox talks to reinforce key safety messages and address site-specific risks. All operatives hold valid CSCS cards, and our supervisory and management staff maintain relevant SMSTS and SSSTS qualifications. We also invest in advanced qualifications, including NEBOSH certifications for our safety professionals, to ensure that our leadership team is equipped to drive continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Risk Management
Effective risk management is central to our approach. Before any project commences, our health and safety team conducts thorough risk assessments and develops detailed method statements (RAMS) that identify the hazards associated with each activity and set out the control measures required to eliminate or reduce risk to an acceptable level. These documents are reviewed with all operatives before work begins and are kept as live documents that are updated whenever site conditions or activities change. We employ a hierarchy of controls – elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment – to ensure that risks are managed proportionately and effectively. Regular site inspections, safety audits, and near-miss reporting further strengthen our ability to identify and address hazards proactively.
Our Safety Record
Continuous Improvement
We are never complacent about health and safety. Continuous improvement is embedded in our HSE management system through regular reviews, audits, and the analysis of leading and lagging indicators. We actively encourage near-miss and hazard reporting across all levels of the organisation, recognising that these reports are invaluable in preventing incidents before they occur. Lessons learnt from our projects, as well as from wider industry developments, are shared across the business and incorporated into our procedures and training programmes. Our commitment to continuous improvement means that our safety standards evolve constantly, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of best practice in construction health and safety.
